정규좌표계 (Canonical Coordinates)
정규좌표계는 위상공간에서 좌표의 집합을 의미한다. 정규좌표계상의 좌표 집합은 물리적 시스템을 어떤 시간공간 상에서도 설명할 수 있는 점들을 의미한다. 정규좌표계는 해밀토니안 공식에서 사용되고 있고, 비슷한 의미로 양자역학에서도 사용되고 있다.
Canonical coordinates are sets of coordinates on phase space which can be used to describe a physical system at any given point in time. Canonical coordinates are used in the Hamiltonian formulation of classical mechanics. A closely related concept also appears in quantum mechanics.좌표계 (Coordinate system)
좌표계는 하나 이상의 숫자 또는 좌표계를 사용하여 점의 위치와 기하학적 요소들을 결정하기 위해 사용한다. 좌표계를 통해 기하학적 요소들은 다양체(manifold)상에서 유일한 값을 갖는다.
A coordinate system is a system that uses one or more numbers, or coordinates, to uniquely determine the position of the points or other geometric elements on a manifold such as Euclidean space.

위상 공간은 동역학계(dynamical system)상에서 모든 가능한 "상태"가 일어나는 공간이다. 각각의 상태는 위상공간에서 유일한 위치를 가진다. 기계시스템(mechanical system)상에서 위상공간은 위치/모멘텀의 모든 가능한 값을 의미한다. 이 값은 직접 공간(direct space)과 역공간(reciprocal space)의 직접곱을 의미한다.
A phase space or state space is a space in which all possible "states" of a dynamical system or a control system are represented, with each possible state corresponding to one unique point in the phase space.
